In preparation for Memorial Day, Saturday, May 24 at 10:00 a.m. local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops placed flags on veterans’ graves.  This is a beautiful annual tradition of Curlew Hills' Memorial Day services and helps the Scout troops achieve merit badges. More than 100 wonderful scouts came out to help place flags.

K-9 Memorial Service April 29

Our K-9 Memorial Service was so special. April 29 at 4:00 as we honored some of the area’s most dedicated law enforcement employees…its K-9 service dogs.    A special service was held at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens on Tuesday, April 29th to honor these brave animals.  This was our 8th annual K-9 Memorial Service.

K-9 service dogs and their handlers from many area police and sheriff’s departments including the Clearwater Police Department and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office were in attendance at the service.  Deceased service dogs from both agencies will be remembered.  And this year, we honored the K-9 officer that was killed in New York on September 11th.

Our 7th Annual Candlelight Service of Remembrance Was Very Special

The holiday season can be a challenge for families who have lost someone special.  Our 7th Annual Candlelight Service of Remembrance was a special evening for families to reflect, remember and honor those who have meant so much to them.  During this uplifting service, about 200 guests gathered to place a personalized memorial ornament on the tree and then light a tribute candle in honor of those they loved. This year children from Safety Harbor Elementary lifted the hearts of us all with their holiday songs. Guests left after hearing the inspirational words from our speakers, enjoying some free snacks  and sharing in some warm fellowship.

Palm Harbor 9/11 Memorial Dedication Ceremony Held On September 11th

More than 1000 people attended our beautiful ceremony on September 11th to witness the dedication of the Palm Harbor 9/11 Memorial.  The focal point of this special memorial is a 150-pound piece of rusted steel beam, which was once linked to the structure of the World Trade Center Towers.  This is an undeniable link between our community and future generations with the memories of those lost in the 2001 terrorist attacks.

About 100 guests attended the K-9 Service Dog Memorial Tuesday, April 24 to pay tribute to three new dogs who were placed in our Garden of Heros. Twenty K-9 service dogs and their handlers from area police and sheriff’s departments also attended the moving service.
